How to Create a Successful Campaign on CryptoUnlocked
CryptoUnlocked is a great method to fundraise for your project or organization! By presenting achievable milestones to contributors, projects can galvanize contributors in seeing a common milestone being achieved.
In order to make a campaign on CryptoUnlocked, you will first need to have a market created using Augur. Please follow our guide on how to create a market on Augur.
After you have your Augur market ready, paste the smart contract address of the Augur market into the section at the bottom of the “create a campaign” page. This will be the oracle for the challenge and the resolution of the Augur market will determine if the funds get released to the beneficiary or if they are released back to the original contributors.

Your Augur market must be valid and binary in order to create a campaign (“YES” or “NO” as the final outcome). If it is not, then you will not be able to proceed after this step.
Step 1: Basic information
For basic information, the Augur market will automatically fill in some of the sections related to the market. The most important part here is the “recipient”, their Ethereum address, and their social media tags.
A successful campaign will have the recipient related to the challenge. The milestone that is set in the Augur market should have an impact on the recipient. When making a challenge, ask yourself the following: “Will completion of the milestone in the Augur market benefit the recipient?”
Funds going to the beneficiary should incentivize or drive the milestone to completition. You can chose to direct the funds to an organization or recipient that the milestone supports.
For example: “Will Vitalik wear a suit in public before May 31, 2019?” Funds go to Prysmatic Labs and Chainsafe, two organizations that are building Ethereum 2.0.
The twitter and medium links are great for attracting attention and contributors to the page. By integrating these links into your challenge, you can increase the exposure the challenge receives to a wider audience and drive more contributions to the campaign.
Finally, we will need to verify that the Ethereum address does belong to the intended recipient. In order to make sure your CryptoUnlocked campaign gets approved, please list a verifiable source of the Ethereum address of the recipient. WeTrust will not be approving challenges that do not have publicly verified Ethereum addresses.
Step 2: Make it Look Good
The next step is to upload a logo and a cover image for your campaign. We recommend the logo of the recipient organization and a cover photo that is related to the challenge. While you can add and edit photos later, there will be an approval process to ensure that any photos and logos fit with our terms and conditions.
Step 3: Tell Your Story
In this section, you will tell the story about the campaign and why it is important and relevant to the beneficiary. Here you can explain about the organization or project and why you believe it is important to make a contribution.
“Why should someone contribute to this campaign?”
“What are the conditions of the milestone?”
“Who is the recipient and why should they receive the funds?”
You should elaborate about the milestone and ensure that the language used in the “Tell your story” matches with your Augur market. People should be aware about what will trigger unlocking the funds (and what will trigger the release back to contributors…but hopefully that doesn’t happen).
Step 4: Preview and Submit
In the final step, you can preview what the campaign will look like. Please check and make sure all the information is accurate. While it is possible to update the story and pictures after submitting the campaign, you cannot change the receiving ETH address OR the Augur market ETH address.
After submitting your campaign, there will be a short approval process to make sure that the campaign fits our terms and conditions (should not be more than 24–48 hours).
